{"id":344,"date":"2018-05-19T07:53:13","date_gmt":"2018-05-19T12:53:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thriftyautoship.com\/?p=344"},"modified":"2018-05-19T07:53:13","modified_gmt":"2018-05-19T12:53:13","slug":"terrorists-remain-fixated-airlines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thriftyautoship.com\/terrorists-remain-fixated-airlines\/","title":{"rendered":"Terrorists Still Fixated on Airlines Says Head of Transportation Security Administration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thriftyautoship.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/airline.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-345\" title=\"Airliner landing\" src=\"https:\/\/thriftyautoship.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/airline.jpg\" alt=\"airline\" width=\"194\" height=\"121\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to the departing TSA chief of the agency charged with protecting <a title=\"transportation\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/2014-12-16\/terrorists-remain-fixated-on-airlines-departing-tsa-chief-says.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">transportation<\/a>, Terrorist groups like al-Qaeda still remain fixated on U.S. airlines and continue to hone their bomb-making skills.<\/p>\n<p>In spite of more than thirteen years since the last successful terrorist attack on a U.S. aircraft &#8211; the hijackings of Sept. 11, 2001 &#8211; the highest threat is still someone sneaking a bomb onto a plane bound for the U.S.,\u00a0said John Pistole, head of Transportation Security Administration. \u201cThe threats continue,\u201d Pistole, said in an interview at the agency\u2019s Arlington, Virginia office. \u201cThey are steadfast and the terrorists are innovative in their design, construction and concealment of devices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The TSA, most known for its airport passenger screenings, has become more proficient at intelligence gathering, adding together layers of protection and concentrating resources on the highest risk <a title=\"travelers\" href=\"https:\/\/thriftyautoship.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">travelers<\/a>, Pistole said. His four-year tenure included a move to split the flying public into groups that get traditional screening and those who opt for an advance background check so they get a less- invasive examination at the airport.<\/p>\n<p>During his tenure, at least two attempted attacks were thwarted. One was a 2010 plot to hide bombs in computer printers sent as cargo and a 2012 plot which was a scheme to smuggle a bomb aboard an airliner. Both were thwarted before they could be carried out as a result of intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>Pistole, who will leave the TSA at the end of the year to become president of Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana, has faced controversy.
